Runcorn Reps ASC is open to swimmers who want to join a fun and friendly club with a competitive focus.
Joining the Club
Swimmers aged between 6 and 11: If you are aged between 6 and 11 years you can attend a trial for the club on the dates shown below. New members must be able to swim at least 100m or four lengths continuously showing 3 recognised strokes before they join the club. Each trial is completed by two coaches from the club one of which will be either the Head Coach or a Squad Co-Ordinator. At the trial swimmers are initally asked to complete the 100m following which they will be assessed on each of the four swimming strokes. A number of skills will also be tested including forward rolls and streamlines. Each of these tests are done without any coaching taking place in order to assess the ability of the swimmer. Following this the coaches will ask the swimmers to complete a basic set. This will normally be on Front Crawl; during this set the coaching staff will offer advice and coaching points - the purpose of this set is to test the coachability of the swimmer. Following this part of the trial the coaching staff will decide if each swimmer has the ability to join the club and if they hold the qualities we look for in our new members. Swimmers and parents will be told after the trial if they are to be offered a place in the club. If not successful clear reasons will be given why this is the case as well as giving advice on what to do next; it is also likely we will ask you to come back in the future and we are likely to give you a timescale for this. If you are offered a place you will be informed of what squad and what sessions are open to you. We look for all swimmers to attend at least two sessions each week when they first join the club.
Swimmers aged 12 and Over: Due to the limited space we have in the club, if you wish to join us and are aged 12 years or over you must have attended a swimming club previously for us to consider you for membership. If you fall into this catagory you should email the Head Coach to disccuss your circumstances on an individual basis.
Transfering from Other Clubs: The club welcomes swimmers wishing to transfer from their current club to our exciting and progressive program. If you wish to do this you should contact the Head Coach at the email below. You are likely to be asked to attend a full week of training before being allowed to join the club, however this will be arranged on a case by case basis with the Head Coach. Assessments take place on the last Sunday of each month at Brookvale Recreation Centre, Runcorn between 7.00pm and 8.00pm. Before attending an assessment please email the club at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so we can provide any information you need and to allow us to reserve you a place at the session. The assessment dates for 2010 are:
